Chronic
Back Problem Due to Falling Down a Hill of Boulders and Rocks
I had lived
with back problem since 1997 when I took a serious tumble down a hill
of rocks and boulders. Because of that event, my lumbar and sacrum areas
became compressed and my discs protruded. Any moderate level of exercise
or lifting even grocery bags would activate weeks long of bed rest and
excruciating pain.
One session
with Peter brought my pain to a whisper! I deliberately kept that whisper
of a pain as a signal not to overdo. I have been essentially pain free
and my back has been never better since I saw him that one time. That
was over a year ago.

Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction Type III: A Non-surgical Cure
After experiencing a chemical exposure to toxic fumes from a 'lemon'
of a new bed, my stomach and throat linings were inflamed and ulcerated
as revealed by an upper endoscopy. I could not eat anything but plain
yogurt. My weight dramatically dropped 35 lbs in less than two months.
I was hungry but dared not eat due to the pain in my right upper quadrant,
and I experienced severe back pain anytime I ate anything non-alkaline
or even some alkaline foods. A procedure that checks for liver and gall
bladder function discovered that my sphincter of Oddi (the muscle that
controls flow of bile from the liver) would seize and not allow for
any bile or pancreatic enzymes to go through into the gastrointestinal
area. Surgical correction of this problem has a low success rate and
a high risk of developing pancreatitis. "You have to live with
this with the rest of your life," my gastroenterologist said. The
only medication to release the muscle spasm is from the sulfa family,
to which I am allergic. Not one to live like that, I decided to do some
research.
I discovered
that acupuncture and hypnosis had good results although not proven by
studies yet, but only anecdotally. I decided to try hypnosis first.
And it worked! Peter came to the rescue. My stomach by then had healed
from the exposure to the fumes, as had my throat. But my sphincter of
Oddi apparently did not get that message. Through the use of hypnosis,
Dr. Greenfield informed the sphincter of Oddi and connected its awareness
to look around and see that all had been healed. It no longer had to
protect me from acid-based foods which would had aggravated my stomach
had my stomach still been inflamed. Once this muscle knew, it went back
to normal. The upshot: I can eat again! It took just one session, and
by phone at that! My GI tract has never been better. Thank you, Dr.
Greenfield.

Prior
to undergoing hypnotherapy, I had what you might call a fear factor
... "I won't stay hypnotized? Would I?"... Peter relieved
my fears immediately. We were partners going in. He wanted me to break
the smoking habit of more than 30 years and so did I. It took less than
30 minutes of faith and trust to become a non-smoker. I firmly believe
that, thanks to Peter and the confidence he has instilled
in me, my smoking days are over.

I was facing
hip replacement surgery which I feared. Peter's hypnotherapy helped
me calm my fears and find peace and strength to face my ordeal. During
our sessions I was able to totally relax. His suggestions gave me the
assurance that I would be in good hands during surgery and heal
quickly afterwards. I'm grateful to Peter for his assistance
and understanding.

Many thanks
for your help. As you know, chronic procrastination
was previously a way of life for me. I even procrastinated in making
the appointment to see you! Because of your work, I was finally able
to break through. Now, I regularly complete projects and tasks promptly.
It's quite a relief to no longer constantly hear someone say, "Didn't
you say you were going to ..."

I can't
thank you enough for the help you have given me through hypnosis. Surgery
is probably scary to everyone, but the anxiety I was feeling went way
beyond what seemed normal. You helped me to relieve the anxiety in a
general way in our first session, and then led me to the place where
I could make a life changing breakthrough. I appreciate
all you did for me and even more so your caring manner and respectful
concern for the pain I presented to you. Since the surgery, I have experienced
a greater sense of peace in my life, which I attribute
to the work you helped me to do.

I went
to see Peter about alleviating test anxiety regarding
a final exam. The exam, the culmination of a graduate studies program
in English Literature, became a formidable scholastic obstacle in an
otherwise successful academic career. The anxiety and fear I felt while
taking the exam was counterposed to any emotions experienced in past
collegiate endeavors. Therefore, I surmised that the problem was not
a lack of mental acumen, but instead an inability to relax and allow
the learned material to manifest itself into the written word. Peter
provided me with several relaxation techniques and an open forum to
present and alleviate any negating emotions regarding academia and in
particular the cumulative exam. We dealt with the inherent anxieties
of taking such a test, as well as solutions to overcoming phobic reactions.
Peter’s assistance was integral to the completion of my Master’s
Degree and passage of the comprehensive exam.

Though
I was hesistant at first about hypnosis (primarily because of the stereotypes
created by the mass media), I greatly benefitted from the experience.
The session focusing on reducing anxiety, countering stress
and thinking positively helped me tremendously. And the added
benefit of the self-hypnosis instructions you provided assures me that
I can continue to face any challenges that lie ahead.
